Up at 4am to see what is called the Mass Ascension at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. We took the Park and Ride as the road into the Park had over 2 miles of vehicles each direction trying to reach the parking lots. We watched balloons from the initial layout on the ground to the filling of hot air to ascension. The number of balloons and people was incredible as you can see from the following pics.

A beautiful quilt depicting the festival was being raffled.
Well worth the visit.
We spent the afternoon back in Santa Fe walking some of the main streets enjoying the architecture, local art and even some local characters.
