Jekyll Island

The weather for our stay here on Jekyll has been very warm, so we have been able to enjoy many bike rides, beach walks, golfing, and exploring the historic district of the area.  The bike paths are mostly through areas like below.

On the golf course we saw alligators and goat deer which lead us to taking Gatorology and touring the Sea Turtle Rehab centre. Below, sea turtles, gator eggs and Kevin petting Tiny.

Day 11 and 12

Morning bike ride followed by a game of golf.
It is hard to see but if you look in the water there is a baby alligator, watching me tee off!!

Unfortunately a thunder and lightning storm came up so we only got in 14 holes.

Wednesday we spent shopping, JoAnn's and Harbour Freight are always happy to see us coming. Followed by a final evening walk around the campground.

Day 10

We took the Campground shuttle in to Charleston. There is a great Market were we saw these neat baskets.  Kevin is going to try to make me one, once we are home.

After a great Seafood lunch we walked along the waterfront and then back to the area to get our bus.  What we noticed is the homes are very, very close together but between each of them are these lovely small court yards.

Day 8 and 9

We traveled 285 Km to James Island County Park.

After being on the road for a week the deed of laundry must be done. This is the only place I know that offers such great seating while you wait for the machines to do there jobs.

We visited the Boone Hall Plantation.

The entrance to this plantation is lined with large Oak trees. We spent the afternoon learning about the history of this plantation from its inception in 1680 to today. Although some of that history is hard to hear, we found the day very informative.

I was particularly drawn to the quilts in some of the displays.

Day 5-7

Each day we took long walks on the beach and enjoyed our campfires. Temperatures are steady in the high 20's.  We had our first round of golf for the season at Meadowlands Golf Course. The winter did not improve our games but we still enjoy to chase that white ball. Myrtle Beach State Park has incredible facilitates and we highly recommend this Park.

Day 1-4 April 2017

We are finally out on the road again. Destination our favorite places in the south east, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky.
Once again when we left home it was extremely windy. Notices on the sky-bridges had warnings of the winds. Thanks to new friends who are familiar with this area we were able to easily detour the bridges without actually pulling the trailer through downtown St Catherine. We wondered what the boarder crossing would be like and when the trailer in line, in front of us was a lengthy time at he booth and sent to be further investigated we wondered even more.  The boarder guard asked us our destination, time we would be in the US and our trailer licence number and send "Have a good trip". We traveled in sunny weather and it actually reached 24 C.  Took us 9 hours to go 431 Km and reached the Casino in Erie, Penn.
Day 2 We traveled 10 hours and 507 Km to Summerville WV.  We find traveling through West Virginia the most scenic part of the trip.
Day 3 We traveled 407 Km to Asheboro NC . Reached 29 C today. Today stopped at Tamarack, a local craft store, full of beautiful pieces. Kevin got many ideas for more wood projects and cutting board patterns.
Day 4. Pumped to reach our destination we were on the road at 6 am and reached Myrtle Beach State Park by 10:30. This is a gem of a state park with miles of sandy beach.
